Call for Papers for Travel Grant

(Travel Grant for Non-Japanese Young Scholars from Overseas)

November 23-24, 2008, Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan

Sponsored by International Liaison Committee of JSS

1. Aim

The International Liaison Committee of the Japan Sociological Society has established a new travel grants program. It enables young sociologists to participate in the JSS annual meeting in Japan as follows. The program provides a valuable opportunity to advance their research activities. Successful applicants are expected to exchange ideas with Japanese sociologists. Applicants should e-mail materials by June 20.

From 2005 to 2007, JSS-ILC has invited young scholars from various Asian countries to sessions on Asian Sociologies. Those sessions have greatly contributed to promote excitement and thought-provoking. This year, these special sessions have evolved to regular sessions, where presentations and discussions will be given in English. At the same time, JSS launches a travel grant program to invite prospective non-Japanese young sociologists.
