Outline of the Bibliography

• Japan Sociological Society (JSS) has conducted annual self-reporting survey of works of JSS members since 1996. Data from 1996- surveys are recorded in the current database.

• Surveys by associated societies. Japanese Society of Family Sociology, which is the only one society associated with our database, currently supplies data based on their 1980- surveys of works of their members.

• Articles carried on JSS official journals: Japanese Sociological Review and International Journal of Japanese Sociology

• "Syakaigaku Bunken Mokuroku" [bibliography of sociology], which was carried every year by Japanese Sociological Review (1945-1995).

• Published bibliographies on sociology and related fields. (Some of them cover works published before 1944)

• Some other published bibliographies on sociology and related fields. (Some of them cover works published before 1944)

• Articles of sociological journals published in Japan.

• Chapters of the volumes of sociological series/libraries published in Japan.

Recorded information is the following:

• Auther/translator/editor's name (in kanji, kana, and alphabet).
• Year of publication.
• Title (in kanji, kana, and alphabet).
• Journal/book title (in Japanese and Western languages); Volume/number; Pages.
• Key words and phrases (in kanji, kana, and alphabet)
• Subject area (classified by two kinds of systems)
• Publisher (in Japanese and Western languages); Site of publication.
• (For translations) Year of publication, title, publisher, and language of the original work.
• ISSN and ISBN (only for data collected in 2003 and after).
• Presence of English summary (only for data collected in 2003 and after).
• Other information: Kind of the work; Languages; Price.
