History

  1. The First International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (ICCPR 1999) was held in Bergen, Norway on November 10th -12th 1999. The main goal of the conference was to establish a more stable international network for researchers within the field of Cultural Policy Research, and to secure the continuity of the network by introducing a biennial conference to be held in different parts of the world. The initiative to organise the ICCPR 1999 was taken by an international group of researchers in cooperation with the International Journal of Cultural Policy. About 140 researchers from 17 countries attended the conference. 60 papers (of 110 abstracts submitted) were presented. A selection of papers was subsequently published in the International Journal of Cultural Policy (Vol. 7, No 1 and Vol. 7, No 2).
  2. The Second International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (ICCPR 2002) took place in Wellington, New Zealand, 23th – 26th January 2002. 192 researchers attended the conference. More than 100 papers were presented. A selection of papers was subsequently published in the International Journal of Cultural Policy (Vol. 8, No 2 and Vol. 9, No 1).
  3. The Third International Conference on Cultural Policy Research was organized by François Colbert and the Carmelle and Rémi Marcoux Chair in Arts Management, HEC Montréal, Canada.
  4. The Fourth International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (ICCPR 2006) took place in Vienna, Austria, 12th – 16th July, 2006. About 400 researchers from 52 countries attended the conference. 195 papers were presented. A selection of papers was published in the International Journal of Cultural policy (Vol. 13, No 2 and 3).
  5. The Fifth International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (ICCPR 2008) took place in Istanbul, Turkey, 20th – 24th August, 2008. About 250 researchers from more than 40 countries attended the conference. 110 papers were presented.
  6. The Sixth International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (ICCPR 2010) took place in Jyväskylä, Finland, 24 – 27 August, 2010. About 250 researchers attended the conference and 170 papers were presented.
  7. The Seventh International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (ICCPR 2012) took place in Barclona, Spain, 9-12 July, 2012. About 300 researchers from 44 countries attended the conference.
  8. The Eighth International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (ICCPR 2014) took place in Hildesheim, Germany on 9-12 September 2014, followed by an additional programme in Berlin on 12-13 September. About 400 academics representing over 60 countries, including previously under-represented regions such as the Middle East and Africa, shared their research on a wide spectrum of issues pertaining to cultural policy.
  9. The Ninth International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (ICCPR 2016) was the first to take place in Asia, being hosted by Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul, South Korea on 5-9 July, 2016. ICCPR 2016 offered over 15 panel discussions (roundtables, focus and thematic sessions) and 75 research paper sessions, thus totaling over 150 presentations. The conference was attended by over 300 researchers.
  10. The Tenth International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (ICCPR 2018) took place in Tallinn, Estonia on 21- 25 August, 2018 hosted by Tallinn University. ICCPR 2018 paid special attention to the consequences of digitalization processes for cultural policy, and offered almost 200 paper presentations in over 80 different sessions. The conference was attended by more than 250 researchers.
